Berlin Scarecrow Contest- A tribute to Marjorie Moore

Marjorie Moore Bird Sanctuary was Named a

Certified Wildlife Habitat by the National Wildlife Federation in October 2015

The requirements for certification are providing food, water, cover and a place for wildlife to raise their young. In addition to native trees and shrubs which supply berries, seeds and nuts as well as shelter and nesting places, the sanctuary has birdhouses and a feeding station for birds and other wildlife.

The Kensington Garden Club has been involved with restoring the area since August, 2004. Over the years the Berlin High School Upbeat students, along with two Eagle scouts helped to clean up the area.

The Bird Sanctuary, a true treasure in our town, is located on Peck Street across the street from the former home of Marjorie Moore and our Scarecrow Committee Designed a first place scarecrow in tribute to the wonderful Marjorie Moore in October 2017.

Special Thanks to Garden Club Member Paula for these photos!!
